Large First Exploration Pendant in Red

The inspiration behind these pendants is based on the Golden Record aboard the Voyager 1 space probe launched by NASA in 1977. The record contains sounds and images selected to portray the diversity of life and culture on Earth, as well as peace greetings to the Universe in 55 different languages and whale song, intended one day to be found by intelligent extra-terrestrial life.

The pendants are handmade from recycled Sterling silver using techniques such as sawing, filing, forming and soldering and filled with eco-resin hand-mixed to striking colours, then sanded and polished to a glossy finish.

The pendants measure approximately 30mm in diameter and are matched with a 42cm (16.5”) long flexible steel necklet with a push & twist bayonet clasp.

The pendant will be shipped in a grey gift box carefully packaged to ensure that it is not damaged in transit.

Although exempt from hallmarking under UK law as it weight in silver is 7.5 grams (just below the hallmarking threshold), the pendant has been hallmarked on the back by the Edinburgh Assay Office.
